I almost didn't make the art match but I pulled a fast one after my 12 hour days of intense job training. Go me, I win for completing it.

It ended up being more oil paint than oil pastels... I feel very meh about it. I think I'll go back to drawing for next week.

Okay, I have my initial drawing w/the pastels done, so now it is time to experiment and hope it doesn't make the picture look like shit!

22 January 2008 @ 09:33 am
Medium: Watercolor
Subject: FAIRIES XD cos I'm a big fan of cliche
Goal: Be as cliche'd as I can possibly be, because seriously, I'm drawing freaking fairies. And I'm not talking about the hot gay-sex kind. (although maybe that should be my challenge for next week. :P)

Hey guys, I have an idea for proposals. What if we each did our own take on fairy tales? Each week would be a different fairy tale.

Little Red Riding Hood
Sleeping Beauty
Beauty and the Beast
Cinderella
The Little Mermaid
The Princess and the Pea
Alice in Wonderland
The Jabberwocky
The only rule is no Disney Fanart. This is to break out of the Disney influenced style of fairy tales and art. So let's see what we can do.

*Another idea to fill up 7 weeks we could do the 7 deadly sins and 7 Virtues. But this may have been overdone, so let's hear what you guys have to say about the idea.
*Another idea is to take song lyrics, I think any song from the Beatles would be funny/interesting to do (I am listening to Octopus's Garden right now...)

We don't have to start it this week of course unless we wanted to. So how about it? Also, if you guys have ideas that'd be cool.

Proposal: Whimsy and Pastel Chalks and bright colors.

Subject: OWLS!!! I like owls, I saw one this weekend looking for my neighbors chihuahua (yes, I am pretty darn sure it was planning on eating it.  Several years ago a bald eagle tried to snatch up my weiner dog). So yes, I plan on drawing owls.

Goal: Goals are set so that the person who set them can achieve their said goals. Goals are like a purpose, and "purpose is that little flame that lights a fire under your ass."

21 January 2008 @ 10:41 am
Medium: Oil Pastels!
Subject: Who am I kidding, it'll probably be another portrait...
Goal: Goals are for people who... aren't me.

So I bought some oil pastels a couple weeks ago... And am eager to try them out. I have only worked with them once before... so let's hope I don't FAIL.

So this week I said I was going to do a comic of myself answering a survey. Well, I didn't do it because the survey I chose is a long-ish one and is taking me a while to draw everything up (I also had many bouts where I just didn't want to draw this week). So that comic is a work in progress to be posted in the future.  Instead I  made something else this week.
